From Astrophysics to Arctic Trails: Lisa Germany's Journey to Greenland
Lisa Germany, an Australian astrophysicist, transitioned from academia to become the Content and Trails Manager for Greenland's Arctic Circle Trail (ACT). Situated between Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut, the ACT is a remote 165 km trek attracting over 1,000 hikers each summer. Germany's role encompasses managing approximately 20 trails in Qeqqata Municipality, marking routes, scouting new paths, and enhancing trail information. She also developed comprehensive websites like arcticcircletrail.gl to promote the region. Her passion for hiking and exploration led her to Greenland in 2016, fulfilling a long-held dream. Now residing in Sisimiut, she combines her scientific background with a love for the outdoors, contributing significantly to Arctic tourism and trail management.
